Sunday in St. Albans

It’s not often that my Sunday afternoon walk involves and looks like this:
• Watching a delightful open-air production of the Taming of the Shrew on the grounds of St. Albans Cathedral, about 22 miles north of London
• Viewing Roman ruins dating back to AD 250
• Eyeing what’s possibly the oldest pub in England called Ye Old Fighting Cocks
• Checking out St. Alban’s Cathedral – at 276 ft. the main body of the church is the longest of any cathedral in England. Much of its architecture dates from Norman times
• Not least of all – happening upon an exhibition at the cathedral of the Magna Carta – the greatest constitutional document of all times that also played a role in the shaping of our 1776 Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights.
All this, and a delicious lunch at Lussmans Fish and Grill in the company of my sister Bibi whom I rarely get to see.
