Postcards from Bali

We escaped from all the New Year festivities here recently to the island of Bali in Indonesia. Most of our time was spent in Ubud, an area of very fertile rice terraces and a cultural center. It’s full of art galleries, furniture shops, antiques, wood carvings, silver jewelry, as well as batiks and other wonderful Indonesian textiles. Our favorite Balinese art forms are music and dance. We saw very interesting and wonderful performances almost every other night at the Arma hotel stage. We found this hotel to be a real oasis from the hot and noisy narrow streets of the town. With its own stage, and museum, an abundance of traditional sculpture and architecture, it is itself a center for Balinese art.

      Hi Samantha,

I’m fortunate indeed to be able to take this time off. I’ve kept pretty busy and that is always the secret to my happiness! Stay well.
