Goodbye to all that

We’re adjusting to life in Hong Kong and finding our bearings once again. It’s the season when the Kapok trees flower and bulbuls “go wild” cavorting in the gorgeous orange-red flowers. No one seems to notice but I love watching them. In Singapore, where so much has changed [new buildings, land reclamation, constant renovation and construction] what got my attention most, were the towering rain trees so common on roadsides. As you leave Changi International Airport, you will see them in great abundance. They are majestic.

What seemed different about Singapore this time around was the feel of the population. It has indeed become a global city attracting new immigrants numbering over a million, mostly from China and India. While travelling on the Mass Rapid Transit I noticed that people for the most part seemed to be glued to their devices. Here in Hong Kong, there’s much more conversation going on.

I always depart with sadness when I leave Singapore because there are so many who are near and dear to me there. I’ll say a goodbye to all that for now and focus on absorbing new experiences. Enjoy my Singapore gallery of photos.
