Wedding Down Under

From the very moment I saw the wedding invitation, I knew it would be an extraordinary event. Lovingly hand-drawn and then scanned, the card featured all the places the bride had visited with the man she would marry on March 28, 2015.

Their adventures had taken them to France, Spain, New Zealand, Italy and the United States. Iconic buildings from these countries like the Eiffel Tower [France] the Skytower [New Zealand], Alhambra [Granada, Spain], the Sagrada Familia [Barcelona, Spain], San Mark’s Square [Venice, Italy] and the Chrysler Building [New York] were featured on the card. The bride who’s my niece, is an architect and it makes complete sense to me that she chose to highlight buildings, spires and tiles in her announcement.

The wedding itself was held on a waterfront chateau on the banks of Lake Conneware, just over an hour from Melbourne. It was memorable that just after the bride and groom exchanged their rings, the sun smiled down on all of us. A blessing from the heavens! I enjoy weddings and find that each is unique and beautiful in its own way. This one included Malay drummers and dancers, gamelan musicians, a jazz singer, and masses of native Australian flowers which delighted me to no end. Oh, and I should mention the “hen” party held two days before the nuptials. I knew there would be a henna application session but the big surprise was the belly dancing! We all learned a thing or two!

A zillion thanks sis Naseem for this post on Eva’s & Selz’s wedding. You have captured the very essence, the atmosphere and the family in their best light and it makes me so very happy to see these photos and read of the events. I have sent the link to it to all my friends in Auckland who were asking for photos as I had none of my own to share wanting to savor all those happy moments with Idham and the girls unhampered by a camera or cellphone.
    Much love and gratitude- Musarrat

It was an exceedingly beautiful wedding and I am fortunate to be a part of it. Your daughters are fabulous – so talented and also so beautiful! not to mention helpful and gracious. You and Idham have taught them well and must be so proud of them. And now you have two great sons in law!
